<p>PURPOSE: To steer rear wheels in relation with front wheels by arranging a steering rod pivotally fitted to the free end of an intermediate member at one end and pivotally fitted to the portion of a rear axle steering device at the other end midway of transmitting the steering motion of the intermediate member to a rear axle. CONSTITUTION: The steering mechanism of rear wheels 2 includes tie rods 6 acting on the tie rod levers 7 of the rear wheels 2. The tips of the tie rods 6 are pivotally fitted to intermediate levers 14 rockably fitted to a vehicle body, and the tie rods 6 are connected together via a connecting rod 15. The sliding motion of a pull/push rod 9 proportional to the rotation of a steering wheel is transmitted to the intermediate lever 14 via a lever-like intermediate member 10 and a steering rod 13 pivotally fitted to it and is transmitted to the inherent steering link mechanism of the rear wheels 2. A hinge lever 12 consisting the intermediate member 10 is arranged so that the steering rod 13 draws a conical surface and a point of force application (b) on the axial side is located at the tip of a cone when the hinge lever 12 is rocked.</p> |
