An aqueous liquid detergent composition with a pH of 12 or less at 1% weight concentration in water and a viscosity no greater than 1.5 Pas at a shear rate of 21s<-><1>, said composition comprising at least 1% by weight of dissolved electrolyte and at least 1% by weight of a surfactant system which consists of one or more detergent surfactants, which surfactant system somewhere between 0.0001% and 5% weight concentration alone in water has a cloudy phase somewhere in the temperature range of 40 DEG C down to the freezing point of the surfactant system at that concentration in water.
