<p>PURPOSE:To shorten a repositioning time and to apply the best through-put to the processing of data on a cartridge tape by changing a write start position in accordance with the generation frequency of instantaneous speed variation (ISV) on the tape. CONSTITUTION:After completing repositioning operation, the number N of errors in a data block to be successively processed and the generation frequency M of the ISV are counted up and the write start position is changed in accordance with the rate of the counted contents to the repositioning operation P. In case of a cartridge tape having a small generation frequency of ISV, acceleration between B and D and between E and G can be maximized and a write starting distance is minimized. Consequently, the time required for repositioning is minimized and the through-put can be improved.</p> |
