PURPOSE:To prevent penetration of molten metal into gap between a stirring device and rolls and breakage of the stirring device by arranging the stirring device for forming semi-solidified slurry by mechanically stirring the molten metal at downstream of a tundish in twin roll type continuous casting machine. CONSTITUTION:After evacuating a vacuum chamber 9 accommodating the tundish 7 and the stirring device 8 at the downstream of the tundish 7, the molten metal 20 is supplied into the tundish 7 and a partial quantity of the molten metal 20 is stored in the tundish 7 and the fixed quantity is supplied into the stirring device 8. The molten metal 20 is introduced into horizontally cylindrical chambers 12, 13 by rotating the stirring rods 15, 16 extending to the axial direction of the chamber 12, 13, toward the arrow mark direction and slowly cooled to solid-liquid coexistent range with a cooling device 17. This molten metal is further stirred with the rods 15, 16 and becomes the semi- solidified slurry 24 containing fine crystal grain 21 as uniformly deformable and having high viscosity and surface tension. Then, the molten metal is supplied to the gap between the horizontal rolls 10, 11 cooling the internal part and cooled, and the solidified shell 22 is developed to make the cast slab 23 for the strip having uniform quality. |
