<p>PURPOSE:To improve desulfurization efficiencies by bringing waste gases containing SO2 into contact with a water solution of Mg(HCO3)2 in a desulfurizing section and also with slurry of Mg compounds in a bicarbonating section, and sending Mg(HCO3)2 thus produced to a desulfurizing section. CONSTITUTION:Waste gases containing SO2 is admitted through an inlet 3 into a reaction tower T, comes into contact with a water solution of Mg(HCO3)2 in a desulfurizing section 5 to produce MgSO3 and CO2, thereafter said waste gases together with CO2 are brought into contact with slurry which contains MgO, Mg(OH)2, MgCO3 etc. from a spray nozzle 17 in a bicarbonate forming section 4 to produce a water solution of Mg(HCO3)2. Said water solution is stored in a liquid sump 15, a portion of which is sent to the desulfurizing section 5 through a spray nozzle 17' by a pump P2.</p> |
