PURPOSE:To improve surge resistance, by employing a series of processes in which additives are added to zinc oxide to mix them and a pelletization thereof being performed thereafter, moreover fine particles with specific particle size, among the pelletizing fine particles which are obtained, are mixed with the predetermined materials to re-pelletize them. CONSTITUTION:Minor proportions of additives such as bismuth oxide and the like, a predetermined amount of binder, a dispersant, and pure water are added to zinc oxide and a wet mixing thereof is performed using a dispersion mill to produce slurry, pelletization thereof being performed thereafter. And, only pelletizing fine particles with particle size less than 100mum are selected by classification from among the pelletizing fine particles which are obtained in such manner. Next, the binder, the dispersant and the pure water are added to the classified pelletizing fine particles to produce again slurry, firing being performed thereafter. Next, the upper and lower end faces of a sintered body are polished to dispose electrode thereon, thereby producing a non-linear resistor. And, the surge current with long wave tail is caused to flow through the resistor to adjust the surge resistance thereof. Thus, a void generation rate is reduced by making the classified particle size small and re- pelletization being performed thereafter. Moreover, by employing the re-pelletizing fine particles with small particle size, the surge resistance is enhanced, and the homogeneity of the sintered body is improved.
|
