PURPOSE:To prevent the exfoliation of a thermally sprayed film and to improve the density of the film in an arc thermal spraying method by maintaining a thermal spraying atmosphere in an inert atmosphere and injecting an inert gas from a gas injection nozzle toward a molten metal. CONSTITUTION:Electric current is supplied from a power supply for arc generation to a pair of metallic wires to generate an arc between the tips of the wires 4. The tips of the wires 4 are, therefore, melted by the heat of the arc and molten metal particles 5 are flown by the gas injected from the nozzle 1 and are stuck to the surface of a base material 2. The thermal spraying atmosphere is maintained in the inert atmosphere at this time and the inert gas is injected from the nozzle 1. The wires 4 are continuously fed through guide pipes 3. The oxidation on the surface of the molten metal particles 5 is thereby suppressed and the thermally sprayed film 6 having good quality is formed on the base plate 2. |
