PURPOSE:To efficiently produce adipic acid useful as a raw material for monomers of high polymer or plasticizers, by reacting a specific microorganism belonging to the genus Alcaligenes with cyclohexanol, cyclohexanone or a mixture thereof. CONSTITUTION:Alcaligenes.denitrificans AK118-6B (FERM P-No. 9431) is cultivated in a culture medium containing a carbon, nitrogen sources, etc., at 24-33 deg.C and pH6.8-7.5. After completing the cultivation, microbial cells are collected and converted into a microbial cell suspension or immobilized microbial cells to carry out reaction at 24-35 deg.C and pH7.0-8.0 in a buffer or solution at an adjusted pH and using cyclohexanol, cyclohexanone or a mixture thereof as a substrate and afford the aimed adipic acid. |
