<p>The invention relates to a method for processing bleaching clay to give expanded porous ceramic grains and to expanded, porous and ceramic grains produced, comprising a mass of bleaching clay being mixed with organic material which carbonises at a temperature of about 400-700@C, pressing this mixture to form a bleaching clay press cake, granulating this bleaching clay press cake and firing the grains. It is expedient that the grains are dried prior to firing, preferably for 10-20 minutes at 70-100@C, and further that the grains are given a preliminary firing at 500-800@C for 5 to 20 minutes, preferably 600-700@C for 8-15 minutes, and, for preference, the preliminarily fired grains are sintered at 1000-1300@C, preferably at 1000-1100@C.</p> |
