PURPOSE:To efficiently produce adipic acid useful as a raw material for monomers or high polymers or plasticizers, by reacting a specific microorganism belonging to the genus Arthrobacter with cyclohexanol, cyclohexanone or a mixture thereof. CONSTITUTION:Arthrobacter.oxydans AK65-6 (FERM-P No. 9430) or Arthrobacter.oxydans AK36-4 (FERM-P No. 9429) is cultivated in a culture medium containing a carbon, nitrogen sources, etc., at 24-33 deg.C and 6.8-8.2. After completing the cultivation, microbial cells are collected and converted into microbial cell suspension or immobilized microbial cells to carry out reaction at 24-35 deg.C and pH7.8-8.0 in a buffer or solution at an adjusted pH using cyclohexanol, cyclohexanone or a mixture thereof as a substrate and afford the aimed adipic acid. |
