The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for ingot casting with an immersion tube which, at the beginning of casting, extends as far as the bottom of the mould and melts progressively as the level of molten metal rises; for alloying purposes, alloying components are accommodated in at least one chamber (18) separated off from the region (22) of flow of the immersion tube (12) by a longitudinal wall (20).
