A boring fitting (1), which can be connected to a pipe (24), in particular by welding, contains a drill (3) rotatable in an internal thread (17) for boring the pipe (24). The boring fitting is to be improved to the effect that leakage losses are avoided with great reliability and a high degree of safety is achieved when boring on site and for the entire life of a branch produced in this way. It is proposed that an essentially cylindrical sleeve (12) be provided which in its bottom part has the internal thread (17) as well as a smooth, cylindrical inner surface (2) adjoining towards the top. At its top end, the drill (3) contains a sealing ring (6) bearing against the said inner surface (2). <IMAGE>
