The present invention relates to a gripping device for filter elements of stainless steel fibre packages or mats, in particular in ducts of a pressure reduction system for safety vessels of nuclear plants having a connection duct between container interior and reactor exhaust air or atmosphere and a filter section connected in this as an accident exhaust air filter having sequential filter elements of stainless steel fibre packages as filter stages having gripping elements, between which are clamped the edges of the stainless steel fibre packages. The object of the present invention is to provide a gripping device of the type described for the metal fibre mats of the filter stages, e.g. of a demister, which can withstand high temperatures, has a high separation efficiency, is simply constructed and withstands the conditions of a blow-off operation. For the solution of this object, the invention proposes the features or combinations of features which are listed in the characterising part of the main claim. Further advantageous features of the present invention are specified in the characterising parts of the subclaims.
