The rotary-piston compressed-air engine has a housing (1) with, arranged therein, a rotor (3), the drive shaft (44, 45) of which is guided outwards through a housing bushing (48) in an explosion-protected manner in order to drive any aggregate, for example a pump. The gap (50) between drive shaft (44, 45) and housing bushing (48) is made in such a manner that flashover of an ignition spark is prevented. The engine housing (1) is encapsulated in a compression-proof manner. Arranged in both the pressure supply line (7) and the outgoing-air line (37) is in each case an ignition flashover barrier (28) which consists of sintered metal. All threaded connections (23, 27) serving for fastening the ignition flashover barrier (28) in both the compressed-air supply line (7) and the outgoing-air line (37) are made in such a manner that a flashover of an ignition spark is avoided. The same applies also for the threaded connection (49) between the housing bushing (48) and the housing part (2) of the housing (1), the threaded connection (39) between outgoing-air line (37) and the projection (38) on the housing part (2) and for the threaded connection (10) between valve (8) and housing bore (9). <IMAGE>
