A method for attaching plastic handle parts to the tang of a hand tool, in particular a knife, is proposed as well as a knife produced by this method. Before attaching the handle parts, the tang and/or the adjoining part of the bulge is/are provided, at least in certain areas, with a mass which fills indentations situated in particular at the outer edge of the tang or of the bulge. After this, the handle parts are applied and are connected to the tang by means of rivet pairs which pass through the tang and both handle parts and whose heads are externally visible. After this, the handle and the externally visible outer face of the tang and of the adjoining part of the bulge are ground on the outer side and if necessary polished. The mass with which the tang is provided fills any existing indentations and any interspaces between the tang and the handle parts, which are closed neatly, smoothly and in a sealed manner. By grinding the outer face, a smooth, flush transition results.
