PURPOSE:To enhance ink absorptivity and light transmittance of a recording sheet and enable the sheet to be used on an optical apparatus utilizing light transmitted through a recorded image, by providing the coat of poly-N- vinylformamide or a partial hydrolyzate thereof on at least one side of a trans parent base. CONSTITUTION:Poly-N-vinylformamide of formula I, wherein a is a number of 15-10,000, and b is a number of 0-7,500, or a partial hydrolyzate thereof can be produced by various methods ordinarily used for production of such polymers. Poly-N-vinylformamide and partial hydrolyzates thereof have favorable affinity for inks, and when such a material is used to form a coat on a transpar ent base, the material functions as an ink-absorptive layer of a recording sheet. The transparent base may be a material which has excellent light transmittance, for example, a film or sheet of a plastic such as a polyester, a glass plate or the like. The coat may be provided on the base by the direct application of a coating liquid as it is, but it is preferable to apply a primer to the base before application of the coat. |
