The method of constructing a ground-water measuring point, at which water samples can be taken from various, precisely located depths, provides for horizontally arranged filter pipes (3) attached to a water-sampling line (7) to be lowered into a vertical bore (1) in the earth to a depth intended for the sampling and for them to be pressed horizontally into the water-bearing earth with a lifting device (4, 5) to be actuated from the surface, and for the bore (1) to be filled with a filling mass impermeable to water, for example clay, after the placement of the filter pipes (3). The cost for the lining of a groundwater measuring point can be kept down and precise localisation of certain sampling depths is made possible by the method. The device consists of a stand pipe (2) which can be inserted into the bore (1) and into which cylinder pipes (5) closed on one side transversely to a longitudinal axis are inserted. The cylinder pipes (5) each contain a filter pipe (3) with a piston (4). Pressure can be admitted to the piston (4) from the surface via a pressure line (6) in order to thereby extend the filter pipes (3) hydraulically from the cylinder pipes (5) and to push them into the earth surrounding the bore (1). <IMAGE>
