PURPOSE:To obtain an output picture with fidelity to an original and an output with a large S/N even in the case of high speed read by devising the arrangement of plural line image sensors and the drive method so as to allow each of plural line image sensors to store an electric charge in one main scanning time on the same line. CONSTITUTION:N-set (in this embodiment, two sets) of line image sensors 5, 6 are arranged in the sub scanning direction while being deviated by 1/N (1/2) of the subscanning feed pitch each, a start panel is given in one main scanning time while deviating the time of 1/N(1/2) of one main scanning time sequentially, the electric charge is stored by one main scanning time each respectively and read in a time of 1/N(1/2) of the main scanning time while being driven by a line image sensor drive circuit 7, and output signals of N-set (2 sets) of line image sensors are given to an output signal synthesis means 10, which extracts a timewise serial analog picture signal with sequential changeover in one main scanning time. Thus, each of plural line image sensors stores an electric charge on the same line in one main scanning time. |
