PURPOSE:To contrive the reduction of the number of components and to miniaturize the titled device by acting one echo canceller for a high frequency echo canceller and acting the other echo canceller for a low frequency echo canceller in the case of the connection of a 4-wire line and acting the one to eliminate echo of the line and acting the other to eliminate echo existing between a speaker and a microphone at the 2-wire line connection mode. CONSTITUTION:An echo canceller 79 generates a pseudo echo from a high frequency component of a signal given from a terminal 73 with respect to the high frequency component at the 4-wire line connection and generates a pseudo echo generated from the line at the 2-wire line connection. The echo canceller 107 generates a pseudo echo signal at 0-4kHz band to eliminate an echo of a low frequency signal in cooperation with a subtractor 129. Thus, since the echo canceller 79 is used as the high frequency echo canceller at the 4-wire line connection and used as the low frequency echo canceller at the 2-wire line connection, no unused echo canceller exists in both the 2-wire line connection and the 4-wire line connection, thereby attaining the cost-down and miniaturization of the titled device.
