A tyre-removing tool comprises a mild steel bar 2 with a cast hook 1 at one end, secured by an adjustable-length chain 4 to a wheel-engaging anchor hook 3, the end 6 of the cast hook 1 having a short flat inner rim flange-engaging surface 7 and a convex tyre-engaging outer surface to provide a tapering tip to engage between a tyre bead and its adjacent rim flange. As shown, the chain 4 is secured at one end to a shackle 5 bolted to the cast hook 1, and its other end passes through a keyhole slot 9, 10 in the shank of the anchor 3, the enlarged portion 9 of the slot allowing free passage of the chain. The anchor 3 is locked in any desired position along the chain by engaging a desired link of the chain within the slot portion 10 of the slot, Fig. 1, so that the depending link abuts the recessed undersurface 11 of the anchor. Alternatively the keyhole slot may be formed in the hook 1 of the bar 2. In operation, with the anchor 3 hooked to a suitable anchorage on the wheel, the chain 4 is adjusted to permit operation of the bar 2 at a point diametrically opposite the anchorage to insert the hook 1 between the tyre bead and rim flange and prise the bead away from the rim. For detachable rim wheels not providing an anchorage for the hook 3, a pair of pincer-like rim-engaging, spring- loaded, mutually pivoted claws may be provided, the anchor 3 being attached to the free end of one of the claws so that operation of the bar 2 tightens the grip of the claws.
