PURPOSE:To simply print an underline by providing underline print control means for detecting the end character of a character string printed in a reverse printing direction from a printing head when a command from a command key is received and moving printing means from the end character to a head character. CONSTITUTION:When character, symbol data are input from input means, a character and a symbol corresponding to the input data are printed on printing medium by printing means, and the input data are stored into a data memory. A present position of a printing head is stored corresponding to a printing position is stored a present position memory. Then, when an underline command key is operated, the end character of printed character string of reverse printing direction from the head is detected including the opposite character string to the head is detected on the basis of the data of the data memory and the present position memory by underline print control means. Printing means is moved from the detected end character to a head character, and an underline is drawn by character strings. |
