Pull-bar type fastener assembly

A pull-bar fastener assembly for sunken location in a door has a throw-bar (16) arranged for rotation about a central axis in unison with an operating handle. The throw-bar (16) has a bearing pin (19) at each extremity which faces but is spaced from the rear face (18) of a mounting plate to enable an end of a pull-bar (11a, 11b) to be slid between the bearing pin and rear face of the plate and then moved in the axial direction to locate on the bearing pin when the throw-bar is at a prescribed position relative to the pan. The rear face (18) of the mounting plate has a pair of retention ribs (21) which prevent the ends of the pull-bars moving axially out of engagement with the bearing pin (19) except when the throw-bar (16) is at a prescribed angular position relative to the mounting plate (13).
