PURPOSE:To prevent a folded part of a paper from being caught by bail rollers and prevent jamming, by moving a paper guide to a specified position in a moving region of a guide member when the guide member is not present at a specified position in the moving region thereof. CONSTITUTION:Printing is conducted by a printing head 4 while the head 4 is moved along a platen 2. When the head 4 is located at an end part of the plate 2, a paper guide 9 is energized in the direction of an arrow B by a spring 16, so that an end part farther from a carriage 5 of the paper guide 9 is turned in the direction of the arrow B along the circumferential direction of the platen 2 to a position near the position of a printing line, and guides a printing paper 1 forward bail rollers 3. Since both ends of the paper 1 are guided toward the bail rollers 3 by a guide 8 and the paper guide 9, the paper 1 is prevented from being levitated from the platen 2, a fold in the paper is prevented from being caught by the bail rollers, and jamming is prevented from occurring. |
