PURPOSE:To obtain a deodorizing material enhanced in deodorizing capacity and generating no secondary pollution, by allowing not only 1.7X10<-4>g equivalent/g or more of an acidic group but also 2.3X10<-4>g equivalent/g or more of an acidic group substituted with an alkali metal to be present at least on the surface part of a synthetic resin powder (synthetic fiber). CONSTITUTION:1.7X10<-4>g equivalent/g or more of an acidic group and 2.3X10<-4>g equivalent/g or more of an acidic group substituted with an alkali metal are allowed to be present at least on the surface part of a synthetic resin powder or synthetic fiber to obtain a deodorizing material having large deodorizing capacity. For example, by the copolymerization or graft polymerization of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid, the polymerized resin is bonded to a fiber or powder or formed into a fiber or ground into a powder. Subsequently, the acidic group terminals of the resin are substituted with an alkali metal at a concn. within a prescribed range and subsequently treated with a prescribed amount of an acid. Further, the synthetic resin powder or synthetic fiber pref. has an irregular cross-sectional shape. |
