METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DRIVING BRAKE MECHANISM

PURPOSE: To make it possible to perform quick braking release through braking adjustment by driving a screw at the rate of the second angle speed slower than the first angle speed when the applicable load of a brake pad working on a non-braking member is in an increased phase and moving a plunger in accordance with the speed difference of both angles. CONSTITUTION: Along the shaft of a screw 15, a nut 18 and plunger 1 are axially moved at the first linear speed and the screw 15 is rotated at the first angle speed by an electric motor 30 by way of the first gear 31 in order for a brake pad 2 to be applied to a non-braking member. When the applicable load of the brake pad 2 working on the non-braking member is in an increased phase, the screw 15 is driven at the second angle speed slower than the first angle speed by way of the second gear 22 and the nut 13 and plunger 1 are axially moved at a differential linear speed in proportion to the difference between the first and second angle speeds. The applicable load of the brake pad 2 is surely increased by this differential action.
