Aminoanthraquinones are reacted with styrene oxide or an alkylated derivative thereof. Heating, an indifferent solvent, and an acid or alkaline catalyst may be used. The products dye acetate silk, polyamides, polyurethanes, polyesters, and polyacrylonitriles. In examples, 1.4-diaminoanthraquinone is heated with styrene oxide in xylene in presence of a little glacial acetic acid. Other aminoanthraquinones specified are 1.4-aminohydroxy-anthraquinone, diaminoanthrarufin, 1.4.5.8-tetraaminoanthraquinone, 1-amino-2-methylanthraquinone, 5-nitro-1.4-diaminoanthraquinone, 1.2.4-triaminoanthraquinone, 1- and 2-amino-anthraquinone. |
