PURPOSE:To stably produce an information recording medium having a high recording sensitivity by sticking a thermally conductive nuclear material like spots onto a substrate then depositing a thermally conductive material and a material having the thermal conductivity lower than the thermal conductivity thereof by co-evaporation thereon. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer is formed by first sticking the nuclear material (seed crystal) like spots onto the substrate 1 (or intermediate layer 2) by trace vapor deposition, etc., of the thermally conductive material, then depositing the material 3a having the high thermal conductivity and the material 3b having the thermal conductivity lower than the thermal conductivity thereof by co- evaporation thereon. The thermally conductive material 3a exists discontinuously in the plane direction around the nuclear material in the recording layer 3 formed in such a manner and exists continuously in the form of the columnar structure in the depth direction; then the material 3b having the low thermal conductivity exists to fill the spacings between the columns. The thermal loss by the diffusion of heat energy in the plane direction when laser light is projected on the medium is thereby decreased and the information recording medium having the high recording sensitivity is obtd. |
