PURPOSE:To prevent accumulation and spraying of unnecessary ink around an ink jet nozzle, by providing a guide which causes ink accumulated around the ink jet nozzle to flow down or drop down, in a part which is not exposed to the recording sheet side of a recording head. CONSTITUTION:Flying ink droplets are discharged from each jet nozzle 11 by activating selectively an ink discharge driving body provided in each ink passage 12 based on a recording signal. Then the discharged ink droplets stick to recording sheet placed in front of a recording head 10 to perform recording. In the meantime, after the restoration operation of the recording head 10, the remaining ink droplets accumulate in a recessed surface 15 around the ink jet nozzle 11 as a water pool. However, the upper end orifice 18 of a guide groove 17 is provided at the bottom of said recessed surface 15, so that unnecessary ink which accumulates around the ink jet nozzle 11 immediately collects in the orifice 18, and reaches the lowest end of a plate part 16 passing through the guide groove 17 from said orifice 18. When the amount of unnecessary ink increases to some extent, ink drops from the lower end orifice of the guide groove 17 in the plate part 16 to be absorbed by an absorbing body such as felt. |
