PURPOSE:To manufacture a superconducting coil easily by a method wherein a metallic oxide is fed between tapes, compressive force is applied, a pancake- shaped coil is formed through heating and sintering, the metallic tapes are melted away by an acid and an air gap section is filled with an insulating substance. CONSTITUTION:A winder in which disks 2 for holding a tape are installed onto both side faces of a core 1 rotatably mounted at a central section is supplied with the tape 3 made of silver, the nose of the tape is fixed to the core, and the core 1 and the disks 2 for holding are turned, thus spirally shaping the tape. The mixed metallic oxide powder 10 of Y2O3, Cu2O and BaCO3 is fed so as to be held among the tapes from a nozzle 4 at the same time as the tape is rotated, and a roller 6 set up outside the tape is pushed by a hydraulic cylinder 5, thus solidifying the metallic oxide powder 10. The solidified powder is heated and sintered for five hr at 900 deg.C in the atmosphere of oxygen gas, thus forming a pancake-shaped coil. The coil is dipped into 'aqua regia' and the silver tape in the pancake-shaped coil is melted away, thus shaping a coil-shaped air gap section. The air gap section is filled with an epoxy resin, thus manufacturing a superconducting coil. |
