Compensation device for a parking brake

A compensation device for a parking brake has a retaining element comprising a tubular body with two flat irons that extend to form a type of fork, a brake-force proportioning device, a spring acting on the latter, a head bolt, a closing and locking mechanism and a cable end-piece for the main brake cable. The wings of the brake-force proportioning device are provided with grooves of elongated design, of which one has toothed edges. In the flat irons of the retaining element bores are provided, one of which has a square cross-section. The neck of the bolt can be introduced into the bore and between two pairs of teeth of the edges. If the neck is withdrawn from its bearing, the spring presses onto the brake-force proportioning device, which tensions the rear cables of the parking brake. The locking mechanism provides for maintenance of the operating position. The said compensation device can be used in parking brakes of motor vehicles.
