The invention relates to a multi-disc brake for vehicle wheels, especially aircraft wheels, which is subjected to full pressure and is cooled by heat tubes arranged essentially axially. For this purpose, the rotor discs, which, for their part, can likewise be designed as heat tubes, are mounted on a hub, projecting radially inwards beyond the stator discs, which are fixed at the outer circumference. The axial heat tubes lead from the individual rotor discs, to which they are connected so as to conduct heat, to the outside of the wheel, which is exposed to the air. For better heat removal, heat tubes are also arranged in the hub. In addition, the rotor discs and the associated heat tubes can form a single freely communicating heat tube system. In a second proposed solution, the heat tubes are arranged between the stator disc and the inside of the rim and thus, at the same time, prevent heating up of the wheel body. By means of such arrangements of heat tubes, it is possible to remove the large quantities of heat which occur rapidly and effectively from the brake.
