PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity an potential stability at the time of repeated uses and to enlarge a spectral sensitive region by incorporating a specified azo pigment in a photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive body contains the azo pigment, such as a compound of formula II, having a structure formed by combining an organic residue having a phenolic hydroxy group and a thiocarbonyl group with an optionally substituted aromatic hydrocarbon ring or aromatic heterocyclic ring (Ar) directly or via bonding group with an azo group in-between, and in these formulae I and II, Ar is said ring; X is an atomic group necessary to condense with the benzene ring to form a prescribed ring; each of R1 and R2 is H, 1-5C alkyl, or the like; (n) is 1-4. The photosensitive layer can be formed by laminating an electric charge generating layer containing said azo pigment as the charge generating materials and a charge transfer layer containing a charge transfer material. |
