In the case of a check valve, particularly for monitoring the intake pipe of multiple-way valves, with a check valve housing having a valve seat and with a ball which acts as a closure member and is fitted in a guide member which is provided with flow passages and which can be displaced to counteract the action of a helical spring to lift the ball clear of the valve seat, it is proposed, for the creation of an independent component, that the helical spring (10) can be supported, by its end remote from the ball (8), on a ring (11) arranged in a bottom opening in the check valve housing (4), and that the ring (11) can be locked on the check valve housing (4) by means of extensions (13) which project beyond the outer peripheral surface of this ring. <IMAGE>
