Shut-off valve for pressure vessels, in which the spring (23) for raising the valve-closure piece (19) from its valve seat (18) is arranged in the throughflow bore (16) of the valve itself with the result that there is no clearance volume in which residues of the medium could remain after the closure of the valve and then escape in an uncontrolled manner. The valve is suitable, in particular, for shutting off pressure vessels which contain poisonous gases. <IMAGE>
