SELF-ADJUSTMENT TYPE PIVOT JOINT FOR AUTOMOBILE

PURPOSE: To eliminate loss of pivot pins and make it possible to manufacture inexpensive pivot pins by providing a ring-like notch in longitudinal axis of a pivot pin and protrusion for support shell to fit in with the notch. CONSTITUTION: A pivot pin 1 is inserted in a casing 2 which is closed with a close ring 3. Within the casing 2 the cylindrical free end of the pivot pin 1 is supported by a support shell 5 equipped with a longitudinal slit and the cylindrical inner circumferential face. The perimeter face 6 of the support shell 5 is formed conically and inserted into a notch of the casing 2. A coil spring 8 is arranged on the end face of the support shell 5 and the inner face of the close ring 3. The pivot pin 1 has a circumferential notch 9 with which the protrusion 10 of the support shell 5 fits in. The protrusion 10 is set to be smaller than the notch in width.
