Method and device for processing medical images

Many image generation devices (1a - 1n) are provided, and many memory devices (databases 2a to 2c) are connected to them. Medical images are classified according to a predefined medical type, such as by diagnostic area or type of recording device, and each of the image memory devices (2a to 2c) stores only medical images which are assigned to the type which is assigned to the device. Each work-station (3a to 3c) which is connected to the image memory devices (2a to 2c) includes an input device for entering information to identify a doctor and interrogation information to define at least one desired image, and a viewing device to show the image which has been read from the database. At least one control system (4) is connected to each of the work-stations, and receives, on the basis of the information to identify a doctor which is entered by the input device, a type which is assigned to this doctor, such as a diagnostic area or diagnostic device of the doctor. When each memory device (2a to 2c) interrogates the stored images, the only images which are interrogated are those which are included in the type which has been received by the control system (4) corresponding to the interrogation information.
