<p>PURPOSE:To reduce number of parts items by installing a connecting pin which moves against a return spring by feed of hydraulic pressure and connects each cam follower via a stopper pin, in case of a mechanism for selecting connection and release in a lot of cam followers. CONSTITUTION:At time of high speed driving of an engine, by way of example, hydraulic pressure is fed to a hydraulic chamber 21 of a connecting-selecting mechanism 10. If so, a connecting pin 22 moves till a stopper pin 23 is made contact with a stepped part 27b against a return spring 24 when axes of a first sliding hole 25, a guide hole 26 and a second sliding hole 27 are accorded with one another. Consequently, a large diametral part 22 of the connecting pin 22 is fitted in the guide hole 26, while a small diametral part 22b is fitted in the second sliding hole 27. Accordingly, each of first to third rocker arms 7-9 are connected together via the connecting pin 22. In consequence, all rocker arms 7-9 are driven by a high speed cam, so that each suction valve is opened or closed by the timing lift conformed to a form of the high speed cam.</p> |
