PURPOSE:To enhance the color tone, sensitivity and max. density of a sensitive material by incorporating specified silver halide particles, a specified dye, a specified polyol and a specified condensation product into an emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide emulsion in which the silver halide particles are silver iodobromide contg. >=0.5mol.% AgI and >=80% of the particles are within the particles size range of 0.2-0.7mum is used. A dye represented by formula I, a polyol having >=40 deg.C m.p. and two or more hydroxyl groups in the molecule and a condensation product of a compd. represented by formula III such as phenol with aldehydes are incorporated into a layer of the silver halide emulsion. In the formula I, each of Z1, Z2, Q1 and Q2 is a group of atoms. required to form a prescribed ring, each of L1-L3 is (substd.) methine, X is a mineral acid, etc., each of R1 and R2 is (un)saturated aliphat. group and each of (m) and (n) is 0-3. In the formula III, R4 is H or alkyl. A compd. represented by formula II may be used as the dye and 2,2-dihydroxymethyl-1-butanol as the polyol. |
