Cooled upper converter casing

A cooled, upper converter casing is constructed as a tube-to-tube/tube-web-tube or metal-shell cooler. Gas-tightness is ensured in practice if the fixed part carries a U-shaped wall with a sealing chamber into which the upper part of the flexible roof projects and jointly forms a flexible transition from the fixed converter casing to the periodically expanding and contracting off-gas cooling stack.
