An apparatus for mounting an internal combustion engine in a machine frame of a machine has grooves in the inner wall of the machine frame which are opposite one another and run in the direction of a crankshaft of the motor. Projections protrude from both sides of the crankcase and also run in the axial direction. The projections fit into the grooves of the side walls of the machine frame, with the result that the internal combustion engine is fixed in the interior of the machine frame. It would also be possible to arrange the grooves in the crankcase and the projections in the frame.
