In order to be able automatically to mix any number of colours from the colour palette and to be able to test the respective mixed colour for its actual composition before it si applied, the invention proposes a colour preparation station before the application of the colour, in which station the desired colour is discontinuously first prepared and then analysed, then the colour composition is corrected and the mixed colour is applied to the textile goods only after production of the desired condition. This requires a colour analyser which, when connected to a computer, automatically controls the desired condition of the colour input into the computer. <IMAGE>
