The jigsaw, designated overall by the reference numeral (10), essentially consists of a schematically shown housing (11), a motor (12) arranged in the housing (11), a saw-blade holder (13) with a saw blade (15) fastened to it, and an eccentric (14) for driving the saw-blade holder (13). The saw-blade holder (13) is connected in an articulated manner to two links (16) which are mounted in an oscillating manner in the housing (11). The eccentric (14) engages on one of the links (16) via a connecting rod (18). According to this construction, the eccentric (14) forms the coupling member of a four-bar mechanism which can be driven via the eccentric (14). The sequence of movement of the saw-blade holder (13) and of the saw blade (15) connected to it is thus accurately defined without having to tolerate the disadvantages of a pure rectilinear guide for the saw-blade holder (13). Sealing problems in the two bearings (17) via which the saw-blade holder (13) is connected to the links (16) do not occur in practice. The discharge of lubricant from the housing (11) in the area of the saw-blade holder (13) is thus virtually prevented. <IMAGE>
