PURPOSE:To form the document of character input regardless of the state of a head part, by controlling a printing means so as to perform the printing operation of a pattern using no printing head part regardless of the data inputted from an input means on the basis of the detection result of a detection means. CONSTITUTION:When the key input from a keyboard 1a is generated, it is checked whether a daisy wheel unmounted flag is stored in a status memory part 3. When the daisy wheel unmounted flag is stored, the key data inputted from a keyboard 1a is sent to a code converting part 5 and converted to a printing code therein so as to be capable of searching the number of the steps of a stepping motor 12 up to each type position of a daisy wheel 18. Further, said code is converted to a display code capable of being displayed on a display device 6, for example, to an ASCII code to be stored in a key data memory part 4. The converted input data is displayed on the display device 6 and converted to a specific code, for example, a space code preventing printing operation to be sent to a printer controller 9 as printing data. |
