The automotive chair for the handicapped having an automatic standing-up device comprises a chair (1) with articulated elements and connected pivotably to an adjustable seat (44) on a casing (4) and an assembly of caterpillar tracks controlled by hydraulic motors (14.1- 14.2/15.1-15.2) articulated on arms constituting a pseudo-parallelogram articulated on axes (5-8) integral with a frame (6) and jacks acting on this pseudo-parallelogram in order to hold the seat steady, while permitting various positions: - standing-up in a low position (action on jack (33)): - advancing quickly (road) in a low position, - advancing slowly in a high position, possibly with standing-up, - climbing and/or descending straight and/or twisting stairways at a slow speed, - turns or half-turns on the spot at a slow speed. All the means are intended to guarantee complete safety in all the possible configurations (total breakdown, recourse to manual disengagement in difficulties, automatic locking of the caterpillar tracks, hydraulic safety circuit etc). <IMAGE>
