COURSE GUIDE DISPLAY SYSTEM FOR NAVIGATION DEVICE

PURPOSE:To accurately obtain information necessary for a course travel in a short time by displaying only information on the course from a starting point to a destination on a screen as a guide map. CONSTITUTION:A file 22 contains guide maps of various courses corresponding to combinations of starting points and destinations and a course selection part 32 selects and reads a course 1 out of the file 22 according to a combination of a current position and a destination 3 which are specified and inputted before a travel. Then an automobile position self-calculation part 31 calculates its automobile position 2 from information on the course 1 and travel history, and an image editing part 33 edits screen information and display a guide map on a display part 18 so that display characters are horizontal even when the guide map rotates by varying the display range of the guide map as its automobile position 2 moves and also rotating the guide map so that its automobile position 2 is in the lower part on the screen and the traveling direction faces up on the screen. Then the contents of travel guidance can be displayed while limited to feature bodies such as a bridge 5 and intersections 4 along the course 1.
