<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a compact and light-weight input pen in a shape that ensures the excellent pointing performance and at the same time to realize the free movement of the pen on a console, by using a sensor having the wireless relation with the pen to detect the position of the pen. CONSTITUTION:When an input pen 104 exists near the surface of a console 101, i.e., within a traveling range of a sound wave pulse 1008 transmitted from the sound wave transmitting/receiving devices 102 and 103, the pulse 108 is reflected by the pen 104 and then received by the sound wave transmitting/ receiving devices 102 and 103. In case a transmission delay time DELTAt is produced between a transmission pulse Pin(201) and a reception pulse Pout (202), l=VXDELTAt is satisfied between the transmitting velocity V and a distance l. If the transmitting time needed from devices 102 and 103 to these devices again via a reflecting point 205 is defined as DELTAt1 and DELTAt2 respectively, l1=(VXDELTAt1)/2 and l2=(VXDELTAt2)/2 are satisfied. Thus a wireless input pen is obtained.</p> |
