<p>PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compd. useful as a synthetic intermediate of sex pheromone, in high purity and yield, with simple process, by reacting sodium amide with acetylene in a specific solvent such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, and reacting the product with an alkyl halide. CONSTITUTION:The objective acetylen deriv. of formula II is prepared by (1) reacting sodium amide with acetylene in an N,N-di(lower alkyl)formamide, an N-(lower alkyl)pyrrolidone or hexamethylphosphoric acid triamide (pref. N- methyl-2-pyrrolidone), and (2) reacting the resultant sodium acetylide with an akkyl halide of formulaI(R is org. residue which can be made OH-protecting group; x is halogen, n is 6-10) (e.g. 8-bromo-1-octyl-2-tetrahydropyranyl ether).
