PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for replacing a recording paper to make a recording operation efficient, by providing a control part wherein a thermosensible recording and a thermal transfer recording are changed over by controlling a paper feed and an ink sheet take-up which are inherent in the thermal transfer. CONSTITUTION:If with the travel of a color ink sheet 1 a slit 1a thereof is detected by a slit detection means 6, at completion of a thermal transfer recording a control part 8 carries the color ink sheet 1 by an ink sheet take-up motor 4 according to the detection result so that the slit 1a is overlapped on the position of a heating element part 2a of a thermal head 2. At this time, the recording position for a thermosensible recording paper 7a is also shifted forward or reverse so as to coincide with the position of the heating element part 2a. This condition brings the heating element part 2a into direct contact with the thermosensible recording paper 7a through the slit 1a. Thus, an arbitrary thermosensible recording is carried out by the heating element part 2a with a drive signal, which is issued from a head drive circuit 11 on the basis of a head control signal from the control part 8. Namely, the thermosensible recording can be carried out without heating through the color ink sheet 1. |
