PURPOSE:To obtain a composite material capable of simplifying the flow control of the gas for vapor deposition or carrier gas and the concentration control of the former gas, by bringing a structure, a combination of felt and other reinforcing material made of carbon or carbon compound, respectively, into a carbon/carbonaceous state by chemical vapor deposition. CONSTITUTION:A structure, i.e. a combination of (A) felt made of carbon or carbon compound, serving as part of reinforcing material, which is a good absorptive substance for the carbon or carbon compound produced by decomposition of the gas for vapor deposition (e.g. carbon felt 2) and (B) other reinforcing material made of carbon or carbon compound (e.g. high-strength carbon cloth 3) is subjected to vapor deposition and impregnation of the carbon or carbon compound (e.g. carbon atom) produced by decomposition of the gas for vapor deposition (e.g. methane, propane), thus obtaining the objective carbon/ carbonaceous composite material (e.g. carbon/carbon composite material 1). |
