Transporting device for materials in the form of swarf and the like, comprising a channel which is open at the upper part, delimited by lateral walls 2 and by a bottom wall 3 and having an open end 6 for discharging the materials, a shaft 8, movable longitudinally in a to-and-fro motion in the channel, provided with thrust members 10 fastened to the shaft 8 and projecting from the said shaft 8 in order to entrain the materials towards the discharge end 6 and a plurality of stationary retention members 14, 15 projecting inside the channel from its lateral walls 2 in order to prevent the movement of the materials in the direction opposite to that of entrainment. Stationary retention members 15, located in the direct vicinity 5 of the said bottom wall 3 are provided so as to prevent movement in the direction opposite to that of entrainment of the materials located in the direct vicinity of this bottom wall 3. <IMAGE>
